Weekly Report #10

This week in ISM,  Ms. Shelby O’Neal also agreed to be my mentor for this year, and I am very excited for the opportunity! I also watched some of my classmate’s research presentation speeches, and I gave mine on Friday. I started with an introduction where I talked about my interest in concert promotion, my mission statement for the year, and my quote for the year. I then began talking about my research for the year. I talked about two research assessments that I have done so far. The first one I talked about was how Covid is affecting the music industry, and the second was how to turn contacts into connections. I then spoke about two of the informational interviews I have conducted this year. Finally, I talked about my original work proposal and concluded my speech by talking about what I am looking forward to for the rest of the year. I think that I did a lot better on my speech than I expected. Although I was nervous leading up to the presentation, I enjoyed the opportunity to share all of my research so far this year with my classmates. Next week, I look forward to hearing more speeches from the rest of my classmates about their topics as well. I also plan to complete two more research assessments this week. I am unsure what I am going to research, but I am curious as to how college courses are beneficial to concert promotion. I think it would be interesting to learn more about colleges that offer specific music business courses, and whether or not they are beneficial to a career in the industry.
