In ISM this week, I was able to learn how concert promoters have adjusted to online promotion due to Covid-19. I completed my second research assessment and I read an article about online concert promotion. This was a very common way of promotion for live events prior to Covid-19 because so many people log on to social media each day to read about people they follow. Some of the most important strategies for online promotion include online ticket sales, connecting on social media, and advertising on social event calendars. One of the reasons online concert promotion works so well is because fans usually follow artists that they like, so promoters have an easy time reaching their target audience. I think that these techniques will continue to work throughout and after the pandemic, but I hope to keep learning about how concert promoters’ tasks have changed and if they will go back to normal. I also completed my résumé where I wrote about classes where I gained experience that could help me with concert promotion. I wrote about various organizations that I am a part of and where I have volunteered. Finally, I added my contact information and contact information for three references. I think that I was pretty successful in my research this week, and next week I hope to learn more about how concert promoters are promoting shows that are completely online, and how their jobs are changing due to the pandemic.
