In ISM this week, I had another mentor visit. I also worked on completing part of my final product and went over this with my mentor as well. For this visit, we focused on music law and how it is clearly used today. For example, Taylor Swift does not own her masters because they were released and sold under her old record label, Big Machine Records. Shelby and I talked about this and specifically about how Taylor Swift is going to re-record and release these under her name. We talked about how this will be beneficial to Taylor Swift, and one thing that stood out to me from our conversation is that she could be on the top of the charts for several consecutive months. It has been interesting for me to be able to understand this situation more than I had previously as a result of my previous research in music law. I also completed part of my final product, and for this section, I created poster advertisements for the show. I created two posters. The first one I created is a poster for the tour in general, this is what the artist would share and what would be posted to advertise all of the shows. I then created a poster that had American Airlines Center, the venue, and July 22, 2021, the show date additionally stated on it. This is the poster that will be used for the American Airlines Center instagram account, and to specifically promote that show. I completed a lot for ISM this week, and I am looking forward to continuing my research and to work on my final product.
