Weekly Report #5

This week in ISM, I began working on my original work proposal. For my original work, I would like to form a plan to create and promote a virtual concert. I think that it will be interesting to see how virtual shows are put together and promoted, especially because they are so much more popular now due to the pandemic. I will have to do extensive research on what websites are available to host virtual shows, and on what the best way to promote these shows would be. I will also have to determine ticket prices based on demand and the cost of production for the show whether the artist or band will be in their own home or in a local venue that has a space with a stage that will provide more of a real concert experience. I think that through this opportunity, I will have lots of fun learning about virtual shows and furthering my knowledge in how concert promoters’ lives have changed due to the pandemic. I also hope to learn about the transition from in person shows to virtual shows. Next week, I hope to complete a couple more informational interviews where I can speak with professionals and learn about their experiences in the industry. I am excited to speak with other professionals, and I hope that my research and interviews that I conduct this week will help me further my knowledge in the music industry in order to help me complete my original work project.
