Weekly Report #6

This week, I had a lot going on in ISM. I had Business Symposium on Tuesday, October 6th. Business Symposium gave me the opportunity to be interviewed by professionals from various fields in order to gain more interview experience. First, I spoke with Laura Echols-Richter, who is the executive pastor at Grace Avenue United Methodist Church. Second, I spoke with Kourtney Hooker, who works for the corporate side of Pluckers Wing Bar. Finally, I spoke with Jenna Gates, one of the assistant principals at Wakeland High School. I enjoyed getting to speak with these professionals and to gain insight into how they each ended up with the professions they have while practicing the interview process. I also had two more interviews this week. The first person I interviewed works as the Digital Marketing Manager at AT&T Performing Arts Center. I had a lot of fun learning about their experience in the live music industry and how they ended up working at the AT&T Performing Arts Center in Dallas. They also told me that there is an outdoor venue at the Performing Arts Center that is beginning to open back up. This was very exciting to hear because it means that live entertainment is slowly starting to come back. I also spoke with the marketing coordinator at American Airlines Center. This interview was also very fun for me because the American Airlines Center is one of my favorite concert venues to attend. They also told me that the American Airlines Center is beginning to host events again while following all of the required social distancing protocols. Both of these interviews as well as Business Symposium helped me gain insight into the interview process while learning about people's experiences inside and outside of the live entertainment industry, and I look forward to more experiences like these in the future. I think that the interviews I was a part of this week will be very beneficial to me in ISM in the future because I was able to further my knowledge in professional’s experience in the music industry, as well as prepare for other interviews.
