Weekly Report #8

I worked on two assessments again this week in ISM. The first assessment I worked on was about my third interview. I conducted this interview with the marketing coordinator for the American Airlines Center on October 9th, and I feel that I learned a lot from our conversation. Something that stood out to me from the interview was when the person I was interviewing told me about how they got a job in the industry. They told me that they had an internship in college where they had the opportunity to meet people and build connections with professionals in the music industry. Then, the person I was speaking with told me that they moved to Austin and applied to several jobs and was finally hired six months later for Live Nation in Dallas. This part of our conversation led me to realize that if I continue to try to build connections and experience now, I will be far more successful in the future. I will definitely keep this conversation in mind moving forward. Then, I completed my 6th research assessment. I read an article titled “How to Successfully Live-Stream a Music Event.” This article was interesting to me because most live events are now done online through a live stream. Concert promoters have promoted these live streamed events, and the article touches on the best ways to do so in order to attract the largest audience. This includes charging a low ticket price, making the events exclusive or limited, and using social media to attract the artist’s fans. Since several concerts are now virtual, I believe that this article will be very beneficial to my studies in the future as well. I think that I accomplished a lot through my research for this week. Next week, I hope to apply the information that I have learned when I begin to create my research speech.
